Popov has 11-years experience in the railway industry. He has been the head of the ITARUS-ATC project (adaptation for the Russian railway and deploying ETCS level 2 system with virtual balises) as well as the head of the project for developing autonomous shunting locomotives (GoA4) and now he is head of the project for developing autonomous commuter trains (GoA3).
